Booking a portrait photography session is a significant investment, both financially and emotionally. To ensure you get the most out of your session and the results you desire, it’s essential to ask the right questions before finalizing your booking. Here are nine key questions to consider:

  1. What is Your Experience and Background in Portrait Photography? Understanding the photographer’s experience helps gauge their expertise and style. Here at T Martinez photography, I have 5 years+ of experience in various genres of photography from sports, family, fashion editorial to studio. I specialize in studio portrait headshots, boudoir, personal branding to create unique experiences.

  2. Can I See a Portfolio of Your Recent Work? Reviewing a photographer’s portfolio allows you to assess their style and quality. Look for consistency and make sure their work aligns with your vision. Check out my portfolio here.

  3. What is Included in the Session Fee? Clarify what the session fee covers. Does it include a specific number of photos, print products, or digital files? Understanding the deliverables helps avoid any surprises. Our session fee covers the cost of the consumables used in the session, photographer’s time and the hair and make-up artist. It does not cover any deliverables. We offer a variety of options of deliverable packages for purchase which include digital copies, prints, frames and albums. One of our many packages will fit your needs!

  4. What is Your Process for Scheduling and Rescheduling? Inquire about the scheduling process and policies for rescheduling. I can help ensure flexibility in case of unexpected changes. Let’s book a free consultation!

  5. How Long Will the Session Last and What Should I Expect During It? Knowing the duration of the session and what to expect can help you prepare and feel more comfortable. Discuss how the session will flow and any preparations you should make. T Martinez Photography our sessions are 1-2 hours long depending on the goals of the session. That time does not include hair and make-up artist time, if we choose to have the artist on set, plan for 4-5 hours for the entire process. Just know it goes by in a flash! ⚡️

  6. What Are the Costs of Additional Prints or Products? If you’re interested in prints, albums, or other products, we offer many packages and can add additional items to any package!   7. How Do You Handle Post-Processing and Retouching? Understand the extent of post-processing included and whether additional retouching is available. This helps set clear expectations for the final images. Just know we will utilize high end retouching techniques. High end editing is included! We will always smooth skin and blemish removal, acme is natural and sometimes unexpected so we will always work with you to make you look your best! Additional charges for editing chipped nails, removal of bruises, removal of tattoo or any permanent marks or scars, fixing hair (if hair and make-up is not provided by us.)

  8. What Are Your Policies on Copyright and Usage of Images? The photographer owns the copyright of the images and how they can be used. We do offer digital download options jpgs with limited personal or commercial use license. Let’s chat about how you plan to use the images to determine the best option for you!

  9. What is Your Approach to Unique or Personalized Portraits? If you’re looking for something distinctive, we can tailor the session to meet your specific needs and preferences. Let’s chat and get creative!
